Since childhood, Linda Vink (1990) was mesmerized by classical music. At the age of eight, her musical career commenced when she started taking violin lessons with Jörgen Rodenmeier and Amerentia van Lammeren. After a couple of years of intensive violin practice, she decided to combine her Teacher Training (the ‘PABO’) with private singing lessons, first with Lourens Krouwel and – after having graduated as a teacher – also with Bulgarian soprano Dobrinka Yankova, principal vocal teacher at HKU Utrecht Conservatory. With whom she started her bachelor studies.
In June 2017 Linda passed her exam as a Bachelor of Music with honours and continued her study’s with a master’s in Classical Voice at the same institute. In August 2019 she graduated successfully as a Master of Music Performance.
Apart from Yankova, who remains also her main subject teacher in the master, she being coached by internationally renowned vocal coach
Ira Siff and well-known Dutch soprano Francis van Broekhuizen.
Linda takes drama lessons with Gusta Gerritsen and Wilfred van de Peppel.
In February 2018, Linda reached the finals of the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours, an annual competition in which one student or ensemble per conservatory is elected to represent their school.
Linda took masterclasses and courses with a wide variety of coaches, including W. Stephen Smith, David L. Jones, Neil Semer, Janet Williams, Peter Bording, Gidon Saks, Marcel Beekman, Charlotte Margiono, Aldert Vermeulen, Capucine Chiaudani.
During her studies, Linda already performed different roles at the conservatory and outside it, as well as solo parts in multiple oratorios. A selection:
- The title character in Puccini's Suor Angelica (2014);
- 'Emilie' in Les Indes Galantes by Rameau (2015/2016);
- Soprano soloist in Stabat Mater by Pergolesi (2017);
- Soprano soloist in Stabat Mater by Haydn (2018);
- 'Contessa' (selected scenes) from Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart (2018)
- 'Lucy' in The Telephone by Menotti (2019)
Apart from the well-known opera and operetta repertoire, Linda is also interested in and versed in other musical styles. For instance, in 'De FRiek!FABRIEK' - a production by Pas de Char - she sang parts from The Phantom of the Opera by Webber, the role of Maria von Trapp from The Sound of Music by Rodgers and Hammerstein, and some of Eliza Doolittle's songs from My Fair Lady.
